Alan Zdinak, director etc

Bio

Alan Zdinak grew up in the media business assisting his illustrator dad on Madison Avenue ad campaigns. Fittingly, he launched his film career in New York commercial production before moving into music videos. He apprenticed with Oscar winning f/x genius Zbig Rybczynski on ground breaking clips for Mick Jagger, Yoko Ono, and the Pet Shop Boys while moonlighting with other directors, like David Byrne and Sam Peckinpah.

After traveling the country chasing celebrity interviews for Japanese TV, Zdinak landed in San Francisco at the dawn of the dot.com era. There, he made award-winning video for Silicon Valley educational software pioneer CCC. He also won a screenwriting agent and feature film options through the Nicholls Fellowships.

Back in New York, his f/x and education expertise dovetailed in a six year stint helming Blue's Clues. A succession of Emmy nods followed. He went on to help launch the Oxygen Network, cover stories for Teen Kids News, and create interactive video for The History Channel. In between he's taken on corporate and documentary projects while continuing to generate screenplays and journalism.
